Aquarion Water Authority’s Eastern Fairfield County System requires an increase in the available water supply. This project consists of improvements to reactivate the Housatonic Wellfield (Wells 2A, 3A, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10), including construction of a new treatment facility and treated water storage and pumping.
Components of the project include:
- Demolition of the existing Housatonic Wellfield Treatment Plant and removal of existing utilities, site features, structures, pavements, and other items required to facilitate construction of the new facility.
- Construction of a new treatment facility at the Housatonic Wellfield.
- Construction of new water mains and appurtenances, hydrants, roadway and pavement improvements, pavement restoration, surface restoration, erosion and sedimentation controls, and all incidental work necessary for a complete and operable facility.
- Relining of Existing Wells (Wells 2A, 3A, 7, 8, and 9) and Drilling New Replacement Wells (Wells 4A (replaces 4), 6A (replaces 6), and 10A (replaces 10).
What You Can Expect:
- Construction for this work is scheduled to begin September 2026 and end in June 2028.
- Construction hours will occur Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Traffic control on Indian Wells Road, including police officers, flaggers and signage, will help maintain safe travel and ensure unobstructed passage for emergency vehicles.
- The roadway will remain open for school buses and emergency vehicles.
